CONGRATULATIONS TOM

The below is the nomination narrative that was sent for consideration

Tom Allgeier joined Kuhl Hose Company in August of 1956 when he turned 18. Tom lives in Greene Township on the farm where he was born, which he still operates. Even after retiring from his job, Tom still puts in near full time hours for the fire department as a volunteer. In 2011 Tom was the top emergency responder, just shy of answering 200 calls. Tom has held the following positions over the span of 4 decades: President, Treasurer, Auditor, Board of Directors, chairman of the Board, Fire Police, Lieutenant, Captain, Safety Officer, Deputy Fire Chief, and Fire Chief.

Tom has witnessed many changes in the fire service over the last 56 years: From the beginning, using a homemade rescue truck to respond to calls, and transporting patients, equipped with very basic first aid training; To today, with highly advanced engines, fully equipped ambulances, and highly trained medical responders. Tom represented Kuhl Hose at the National Firefighter Combat Challenge in Texas in the “Over 50” category, and came home with 2nd place. With the thousands of hours of duty and calls he’s answered, and thousands of lives he’s touched, Tom has made our community a much better place. He is an example of the model fireman and someone very deserving of this recognition.
