08/17/11 - A review of rope rescue skills was conducted Wednesday evening.  Crews were faced with 3 patients that were over an embankment due to an ATV accident.  All 3 patients had moderate to severe injuries and required the rescue crews to gain access, treat and remove them from the ravine.   Several different decent techniques, raise and lower systems and using the stokes to extricate the victims were reviewed.  As the drill progressed, each step of the scenario was used to teach knots, stokes tie in, raise and lowering system and proper terminology during rope rescue.  Command, Safety, Operations, and Medical Chief's were set up to practice span of control and the use of the incident management system.
