10/16/10 - This weekend Boy Scout Troop #133 and Weblos from Pack 154 are camping out behind Station #68.  The Scouts are using the campout to introduce the Weblos from Pack 154 to the Boy Scout life.  The Scouts participated in a team building exercise today with the help of Kuhl Hose firefighters.  After a safety brief, teams of 4 scouts and the Senior Patrol Leader & Troop Guide acting as the company officer, were given helmets, safety glasses, and gloves.

The scouts then had to work together to connect sections of 2 1/2" hose from the portable pump to Engine 683 and connect the suction hose to the pump.  Chief Cotton manned and operated the portable pump but only after being told to do so via radio from one of the scouts.  They then connected sections of 1 3/4" hose from the pumper and connected a nozzle all under the supervision of Firefighter Denial.  Once again they requested the line to be charged via radio.  The crew then had to apply water and knock over 1 traffic cone per crew each.  Each crew accomplished their task in under 10 minutes.  Each scout received either a Kuhl Hose ball hat or winter hat for their training efforts today.

Thanks to the Scout Leaders and Parents who helped assist with the event.  Also special Thanks to Chief 680, Chief 681, Firefighters Maggie Denial, Brent Johnson, and Mark Zeigler.
