Early Sunday morning the State
Police received an open line 911 call. The PSP
dispatcher noticed that in the background there was a
smoke detector sounding and notified the Fire Department
as well. Kuhl Hose was dispatched for a fire alarm
assist PSP. PSP and Chief 680 arrived on the scene at
the same time and reported a single story structure,
nothing visible. The occupant of the structure reported
smoke in the building and that his wife was still
inside. 680 requested the structure fire pre-plan be
dispatched then entered the structure prior to the
engine company's arrival and searched the first floor,
found the elderly female in her bedroom confused. She
was pulled from the structure and handed to PSP who
moved her to their cruiser until EMS arrived. A quick
secondary search was made and a fire was located in the
basement and the division 1 walls.
683 arrived and stretched an 1
3/4" line and worked to the basement. A second line was
stretched by Belle Valley Engine 32 to division 1 while
truck 30's crew went to the roof and ventilated. Crews
quickly contained and extinguished the fire.
The fire was in the basement,
division 1 wall and into the attic near the fire place.
The floor was burned out near the fire place. Crews
were on the scene just under 1 1/2 hours. The family is
being assisted by the Red Cross.
Early Monday morning the Kuhl
Hose RIT was dispatched to Donation Rd to assist
Waterford at a residential house fire. Chief 140
arrived on the scene reported a working fire inside a
trailer that had multiple additions. All occupants were
out of the structure and only a defensive operations
were used. The RIT was split into a smaller crew and
several of Kuhl Hose personnel assisted with manpower at
the scene. Crews were on the scene for about 3 hours.
