Sunday just before 10:00 Kuhl Hose
was dispatched to Auto Express on Wattsburg Road for a
vehicle fire. Dispatch initially reported that there
were wires down at the scene. On arrival of 683 Engine,
there were 2 cars involved. There were live wires down
on top of the burning cars. 683's crew stretched an 1
3/4 line and began to protect the exposure vehicles
while remaining at a safe distance due to the down power
lines. A second hand line was stretched to help
exposure vehicles. Penelec was requested to the scene
and arrived within 45 minutes to secure the power. Once
the power was secured crews worked to extinguish the
fire. Wattsburg was dispatched to assist with and
Engine and Tanker. Wattsburg also brought additional
foam. Perry Hiway Rescue 74 assisted with Haz Mat
containment materials. Crews were on the scene for
about 2 hours.
The power lines cause damage to
the parking lot, as well as a light pole on the
property. Thanks to the students of BVR Tech class who
assisted with getting the engine back in service within
20 minutes so class could continue.
