Day
One of RIT Class was a review of search and rescue, as
well as self rescue.
Day Two began with specialized
rescue scenario's due to a collapse and entrapment of a
down Firefighter.
Scenario #1
A RIT deployment for a trapped
firefighter that was searching on the first floor of a
residential structure. The firefighter reported that he
was trapped under a collapsed ceiling. Crews made entry
located the general area, made a wall breech and
completed an SCBA air change over. All three scenarios
were done under smoke conditions.
To make the rescue a second
crew made an enlarged opening for a quicker egress with
the firefighter that was down.
Scenario #2.
The roof crew making a vent cut
falls through the roof.
Scenario #3
Firefighter calls a mayday,
reports a floor collapse and they believe they are in
the basement. 2 Firefighters down, one trapped on the
basement floor by a collapse and the other trapped and
tangled hanging from the first floor.
