Just before 2:30 Saturday afternoon Union City Fire Department was dispatched to Suburban Molding on RT 6.  Dispatch reported receiving multiple 911 calls for a working fire.  Chief 1141 arrived on location and confirmed a working fire and requested the 2nd alarm be dispatched.  There were heavy smoke and fire conditions at the rear of the structure.

With the initial units arriving and the fire quickly spreading a 3rd alarm was dispatched to the scene.  Crews made an initial attack with hand lines into the office area of the building to push the fire back but were quickly pushed back.  Master streams from 1132 Engine were used while Truck 1139 set up for it's master stream operation.

1139 was set up in the rear of the building, while Corry Ladder 1 and Edinboro 389 Truck set up in the front and side of the building and began master stream operations.  Crews manned portable monitors and attacked the fire all from exterior operations.  Multiple other companies were called for manpower.

EMS set up a rehab area to the west of the fire scene.  2 firefighters were transported to the hospital, and one was admitted to the hospital for observation.

Erie County Emergency Management as well as the Department of Environmental Protection was on location due to the potential ecological impact of the fire, as well as the potential for a large evacuation.  There was a voluntary evacuation and only a few were chose to leave their homes.

A large excavator was brought in to help with overhaul of the building.  Crew remained on the scene until just before midnight doing overhaul operations.  The fire is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Fire Department.
