Building on several weeks of training Wednesdays
training consisted of Firefighter safety, calling a
MAYDAY, and Firefighter escape. Everyone reviewed
MAYDAY procedures, how and when to call, as well as how
to breach walls for personal escape or access to those
firefighters that may be trapped. The initial training
was done with everyone watching and with detailed
examples. Then each scenario was done in smoke
conditions with limited visibility. Those not directly
involved in the evolutions were put into Command and
Safety functions.
