Tally Ho-tel catches fire forced woman
from second burning structure this year
Just before 7 p.m. fire crews
from Perry Hiway, Kuhl Hose and Belle Valley were
dispatched to the Tally Ho-tel for a report of a
structure fire. On arrival Chief 360 confirmed a
working fire. 683 Engine, first due from Kuhl Hose,
arrived on scene pulled an 1 -1 3/4" line and made a
quick knock down. The fire was in the bathroom of the
small apartment/hotel room, and was contained to the
bathroom ceiling and walls. Belle Valley Truck 30 crew
went to the roof and checked for extension. While on
the roof, the Truck crew reported light smoke still
coming from between the walls of the two sided motel
structure at the roof peak. The structure was built in
sections like a modular home and the two sides of the
hotel are tied together at the roof line. A 3' crawl
space was discovered under the building. There was also
a small fire discovered in the crawl space under the
building. Crews needed to make access but cutting a
hole in the floor. The remaining fire was quickly
extinguished.
Perry Hiway 71 Engine
established a water supply. Crews were on scene for 2
hours.
The occupant of the apartment
was staying there due to a fire at her residence earlier
in the year that displaced her from her home.
